Job Description: Nipmuc Regional High School is seeking a passionate educator who can establish the school’s media center as a learning commons that is a hub of collaboration, inquiry, and authentic learning. The role includes working collaboratively with educators and students to help students develop skills and excitement in the areas of literature, research, technology, and inquiry. The responsibilities of the role align with the vision of the school and district, helping students to engage in deeper learning and develop a powerful personal narrative through mastery of the Portrait of a Learner skills and competencies.
Certification:
- Possess educator certification and expertise in research, literature, technology, and/or inquiry required.
- Library/Media certification preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Media Center – Create a welcoming, collaborative, and purposeful learning environment in the school’s media center.
- Literature and Reading – Collaborate with students and teachers to ensure the library’s collection supports the curriculum, reflects the diversity of the student body, and encourages exploration and appreciation of the written word.
- Research – Collaborate with teachers and students in developing research skills and embedding research in learning experiences.
- Literacy Skills – Support students in developing information and digital literacy skills needed for success in the modern world.
- Mastery Learning Records – Serve as the primary coach in helping students to develop and publish their Mastery Learning Records.
- Authentic Learning and Programming – Support and plan authentic learning experiences to help students connect their learning to the world beyond school.
- Freshman Seminar – Act as a teacher of the Freshman Seminar course, helping students explore the Portrait of a Learner competencies, develop the Portrait of a Learner skills, reflect on their progress, and develop a positive personal narrative.
