We are currently welcoming externs at Northeast Equine Veterinary Dental Services!
We are an equine dentistry specialty practice based in Topsfield Massachusetts, about 40 minutes north of Boston.
Northeast Equine Veterinary Dental Services is a two veterinarian practice dedicated to providing gold standard dental care from routine dentistry to advanced dental procedures, utilizing motorized instrumentation for routine dental care, wireless digital radiography, oroscope, and URT endoscopy. We pride ourselves on providing the best dental care and have earned an excellent reputation with both our clients and referring veterinarians. We see routine and referral cases at farms and hospitals throughout New England, primarily in MA, NH, southern ME, and RI, in addition to seeing cases at our new clinic.
The practice owner is a diplomate of AVDC, and provides a complete menu of advanced dentistry services to horses in the greater New England area. More information about the practice can be found at .
Equine dentistry is a relatively new and constantly evolving area of study. Our veterinarians love teaching and look forward to exposing students to both routine and advanced procedures.
During the externship, we hope that students are able to gain or improve the ability to:
- Perform a thorough oral exam
- Recognize and identify oral pathology
- Learn appropriate charting and numbering techniques
- Obtain diagnostic skull radiographs
- Become familiar with a wide variety of equipment options available
- Effectively communicate with clients
- Appreciate the importance of client education
No emergency or weekend duties. Priority will be given to equine focused 3rd and 4th year vet students though all are welcome to apply. Housing is not provided at this time.
