This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoW Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the PositionThis job announcement will fill multiple vacancies for a Maintenance Worker at the full performance levels (FPLs) of WG-07 and WG-08, and Maintenance Mechanic at the full performance level (FPL) of WG-09.
Duties- Perform work in a variety of trades in carpentry, plumbing, painting and mechanical trades. Such trades involving, but not limited to, maintenance of dam control tower facilities, buildings and structures
- Operation of hydraulic systems, electrical equipment, machinery, mechanical tools, use of backhoe, tractor etc.
- Installation and construction of buildings/structures, as well as modification and repairing of current structures and buildings
- Perform more difficult carpentry work that involves utilizing skills and techniques required to install, repair, or modify wood products such as building renovation, door/window frames, walls, furniture, etc.
- Maintenance of water treatment plants requiring filtration processes; electrical work; welding etc.
- Perform repair of electrical fixtures, defective wiring, etc. requiring the removal and replacement, splicing, and soldering or tightening of connections
- Electrical work also involves repair or replacement of such items as switches, defective wiring, controls, circuit breakers, receptacles, ballast's, and lighting fixtures
- Operate utility vehicles and other equipment including trucks up to 5-ton stake or dump trucks, backhoes, tractors, and other engineering equipment required to complete assignments
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment, for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program
- Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain Corps of Engineers licenses associated with this position
- Incumbent may be required, dependent upon mission requirements, to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to perform duties of position issued by the state of residence
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment
- Heavy physical lifting is required of this position. Incumbent must be able to lift objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Incumbent must be able to perform all physical requirements of this position
- Incumbent may be required to wear the appropriate uniform for this position. The maintenance uniform shall be worn in accordance with EP 1130-2-520 Chapter 7
- Incumbent may be required to perform wildfire suppression duties
- Incumbent may be required to work alternate weekend and holiday work schedules
