American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a critical care ICU position requiring a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience and prior travel nursing experience in a similar acuity setting.
Details- 8-bed ICU unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiovascular, respiratory failure, sepsis/septic shock, neurological conditions, post-surgical, and metabolic/endocrine emergencies
- Manages complex drips including vasopressors, sedation/analgesia, cardiac, insulin, heparin, sodium bicarbonate, electrolyte replacement, paralytics, and thrombolytics
- Proficiency with lines and drains including PICC, A-line, dialysis lines, chest tubes, NG tubes, Foley catheters, JP drains, and wound vacs
- Operates CRRT and mechanical ventilators
- Oxygen delivery modalities include NC, mask, non-rebreather, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, vent, nebulizer treatments, inline suction, and vent weaning
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every third weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- May float to a 24-bed PCU/Med-Surg unit with RN and PCT support
- Unit is RN-only staffed with manager/house supervisor support
- Epic EMR (experience preferred)
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience in a similar acuity setting required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG exam (administered on first day, two attempts allowed)
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
- Proof of address required for consideration (acceptable documents: driver's license, voter registration card, federal income tax return, military Form 2058, or W2 from U.S. government)
- Full SSN and date of birth (MM/DD) required for consideration
- 1 supervisory reference required
- Nursys license verification required
- Copy of certifications required
- Conducts ongoing patient assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care for critically ill patients
- Manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma
- Performs hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheter management
- Assists with insertion of intra-aortic balloon pumps, chest tubes, Impella devices, and transvenous/temporary pacing
- Administers conscious sedation and manages advanced respiratory modalities
- EKG study guides will be provided prior to testing on day one
- BSN preferred but not required
- CCRN, PCCN, TNCC, TCRN, RN-BC, and NIH Stroke Certification are preferred but not required
- Patient population spans adults (18–64) and geriatrics (65+)
- Role requires the ability to perform shift work, maneuver patient weight, and sustain periods of standing, walking, and bending
