. The Director of Technology & Innovation is not merely a technical manager but a strategic leader. This role is responsible for ensuring that the district's digital ecosystem directly supports the Portrait of a Comet —fostering students who are Difference Makers , innovators, and critical thinkers.
The Director of Technology and Innovation provides leadership for the district's technology infrastructure, systems, and services. This role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations that support teaching and learning, district operations, and innovation initiatives.
Working closely with the Chief Innovation Officer, the Director of Technology and Innovation focuses on execution, implementation, and continuous improvement of technology systems, allowing the CIO to maintain a strategic and innovative district wide lens.
Strategic Leadership & Big Rock Alignment- Strategic Planning:
Lead the development and execution of a multi-year Technology Master Plan that aligns with the Mason Quality Profile. - Innovation Leadership:
Serve as a Lead Learner , identifying emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI in K-12) that can scale personalized learning. - Culture Building:
Foster a departmental culture of Customer Service Excellence , ensuring tech support empowers teachers rather than hindering them.
- Network Management:
Provide oversight for high-density Wi-Fi (802.11ax/6E), fiber backbone, and VoIP systems capable of supporting 10,000+ users. - Cybersecurity & Data Privacy:
Implement robust threat detection, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and disaster recovery. Ensure 100% compliance with FERPA

. - Lifecycle Management:
Manage the district's 1:1 Chromebook/iPad initiative
, including procurement, inventory (Asset Management), and sustainable replacement cycles.
- SIS Management:
Oversee the Student Information System (e.g., Powerschool) to ensure data integrity. - EMIS Compliance:
Collaborate with the Treasurer/CFO to ensure accurate EMIS (Education Management Information System) reporting for state funding. - Data Analytics:
Develop dashboards for Data-Informed Decision Making to track student growth and operational efficiency.
- Implementation and Upgrades:
Lead implementation of new technologies, upgrades, and system improvements - Project Management:
Manage technology projects from planning through execution - Collaboration:
Collaborate with data, enrollment, and innovation teams to ensure system alignment
- Budgeting:
Monitor the Technology General Fund and Capital Improvement budgets. - E-Rate & Grants:
Maximize federal E-Rate funding and pursue state/federal technology grants to offset local costs. - Leadership:
Supervise and support technology staff - Development:
Build capacity through coaching, professional learning, and clear expectations - Servant Leadership:
Foster a customer-service oriented and solutions-focused team culture

Requirement
Education Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Education.
Master's Degree preferred.
Licensure Valid Ohio Administrative Specialist License (or ability to obtain).
Experience 5+ years of leadership in IT; K-12 experience strongly preferred.
Core Skills- Google Workspace for Education, Network Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Project Management.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, devices, and enterprise systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, projects, and operational workflows
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
