Description Of APP Role

Division: CHSN-all locations

Pediatric Primary Care from newborn to young adult including well and ill child visits and mental health. APP will be hired into a “long term float” assignment across all CHSN office locations including Batesville/Greensburg IN, NKY, Mason, Liberty, Springdale, Loveland, Wilmington, Centerville, Kenwood, and school-based health centers.

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Pediatric Primary Care experience preferred.

Certification: FNP or PNP.

Job Responsibilities
  • Patient Care – Perform history and physical exams, assess and diagnose illnesses, formulate, document and monitor treatment plans, order and monitor therapeutic interventions, provide clinical consultation, prescribe medications in accordance with Federal and State Law & Rules and CCHMC policy, and maintain competency according to Joint Commission standards.
  • Outcomes Identification and Planning – Develop measurable goals, prioritize, evaluate, and modify individualized care plans, involve patient/family/caregiver, consider risks, costs, evidence, and guidelines, incorporate new knowledge, and maintain documentation.
  • Professional Practice – Maintain professional behaviors, participate in quality improvement and lifelong learning, serve as preceptor or mentor, integrate ethical considerations, provide leadership through committees or professional organizations, advocate for pediatric patients, and influence care delivery and policy.
  • Care Management – Maintain competency, promote self‑management, provide leadership to achieve optimal quality, communicate with the healthcare team, delegate appropriately, consult on plans of care, make referrals, order and perform treatments, and provide diagnostic results and information on therapies.
  • Evaluation – Use systematic evaluation to revise diagnoses and plans, evaluate effectiveness, involve patients and providers, base on advanced knowledge, document appropriately, and use results to recommend process or structural changes.

Scope for subspecialty role will not exceed the scope of the collaborating or supervising MD.

Job Qualifications
  • Masters degree in a related field. May require clinical license, certification, or training, or Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree.
  • No directly related experience.
  • Licensure and certification in accordance with CCHMC Delineation of Privileges.
  • Multi‑state licensure in addition to Ohio licensure may be required based on specialty.
