Municipal Engineer
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
The Municipal Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day municipal engineering activities, including wastewater treatment, stormwater management, water supply systems, and project management. This role involves both office-based design work and field support, contributing to the planning, design, and execution of municipal infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project plans and supervise or participate in engineering design activities
- Design and oversee a wide range of municipal improvement projects
- Conduct street design and street needs assessments
- Perform technical analyses for new street construction and modifications to existing streets
- Maintain city-wide maps, plans, and thoroughfare plans
- Apply traffic engineering principles to the design and maintenance of traffic signals, signage, lighting, and related systems
- Maintain project databases as directed by project managers
- Research, write, and edit technical reports and business correspondence
- Provide engineering support and recommendations through field visits and site inspections
- Conduct field reviews and site visits as required
- Attend project-related meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical reports and business correspondence
- Public presentation skills
- Familiarity with stormwater modeling software
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Micro Station, and Open Roads
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Ongoing professional development, certifications, and training supported
- In-depth knowledge of municipal engineering design principles, including wastewater, stormwater management, water supply systems, and project management
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience (flexibility based on skill set and expertise)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio
