Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Sr Mechanical Design Engineer for our client. This role will require the individual to use the project concept & specifications generated by the sales team and customers to design systems (mechanical & pneumatic) to meet those requirements.
What’s a Typical Day Like?- Design, debug, and support custom industrial material handling systems.
- Work with project team to turn sales concept into a custom solution to meet the project requirements.
- Design all mechanical and pneumatic system components.
- Work with vendors to select components to meet system requirements.
- Work with project team to develop RIA risk assessments.
- Generate approval prints and review designs with customers.
- Generate detail and assembly drawings.
- Work with purchasing to procure all required components.
- Resolve issues that arise during the equipment build.
- Debug equipment on the shop floor to ensure it meets the project specifications.
- Verify fit, form, and function of all mechanical/pneumatic systems.
- Support internal and customer runoff of the equipment.
- Project schedule coordination with the Director of Operations and clients.
- Budget communication and management as needed.
- Guide and instruct junior staff engineers on projects.
- Keep current with technology, market, industry trends
- BSME/BSMET degree
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience in the automated machinery and robotics systems segments.
- Previous experience with custom industrial robotic applications, end of arm tool design, ancillary equipment, machine tool, fixturing, packaging equipment, etc.
- Ability to travel for project kickoff meetings/equipment installations/support
- Microsoft Office software (Project, Word, Excel)

- Ability to work on overlapping projects.
- Solid customer relationship and communication skills
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk or in a manufacturing environment.
- Extended periods of time looking at a computer screen.
- Standard engineering office environment.
- Working around moving parts/machinery that can be loud.
- Must wear PPE to include ear and eye protection as well as steel-toed shoes/boots as required in manufacturing areas.
- May need to wear protective gloves and/or clothing at customer sites.
- Travel to customer sites for meetings, equipment start-up/commissioning, and occasional supervision (5% travel estimate).
- Overnight travel is required for customers that are located beyond reasonable driving distances.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
- Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
- Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
