Position Overview

Goshen Local Schools is seeking a visionary, high-energy Music Educator to fill a dual-role position. This individual will serve as the Director of the Choir Program at the high school level and providing general music instruction for grades 3-5. We are looking for a candidate who is equally comfortable with the piano and developing vocal harmonies. This is a "builder" role designed for someone who wants to shape the entire musical trajectory of our students from their first notes in 3rd grade to their senior graduation performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensemble Direction:
Organize, rehearse, and direct the High School choir and

* Performance Management:
Schedule and execute a full calendar of performances, including concerts, assemblies, civic events, and festivals.

* Logistics & Operations:
Manage all aspects of the organization, including auditions, uniform/equipment care, fundraising, and coordination of camps and clinics.

Choir & Vocal Program Development

* Program Building:
Recruit and develop a high school choir program and establishing a culture of vocal excellence.

* Vocal Instruction:
Teach vocal technique, sight-reading, and ensemble blending to high school students.

* Elementary Foundation:
Provide effective music education for grades 3-5, fostering an early love for music and preparing students for future participation in secondary ensembles.

Instructional Excellence & Classroom Management

* Pedagogy:
Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media to deliver clear, accurate explanations of music theory and performance.

* Safety & Environment:
Maintain a safe, orderly, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to the maturity and interests of the students.

* Collaboration:

Work closely with the music deparment.

Qualifications

* Education:

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Music Education from an accredited institution.

* Licensure:
Valid State of Ohio teaching license/certification appropriate for K-12 Music.

* Experience:

Prior teaching experience in both instrumental and vocal settings is preferred.

* Clearances:
Current BCII/FBI background checks required.

Proficiency in both instrumental conducting and vocal pedagogy.

* Organizational Mastery:
Ability to manage complex schedules, travel logistics, and large-scale event planning.

* Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative relationships with parents, the Intervention Assistance Team, and the community.

* Professionalism: A commitment to the ethics of the teaching profession and the ability to serve as a positive role model for Goshen students.
