As a Clinic Registered Nurse at Mercy One, you will accept responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

• Deliver nursing care for all types of Oncology patients in the Radiation Oncology department using the identified nursing process.
• Assess patients and identify their physical, spiritual, nutritional, and psychosocial needs, especially for patients with complex needs.
• Identify and manage common side effects associated with cancer treatment and evaluate patient/family response to nursing interventions.
• Act as a resource for the nursing process to other clinical nurses.
• Provide or facilitate education opportunities to meet the learning needs of the patient and family by assessing the learning needs and formulating a teaching plan.
• Collaborate with the patient and family to identify complex teaching needs and serve as a resource for department staff.

• Full time 40 hours a week

• Demonstrates customer service as a number one priority and accomplishes this by integrating Service Excellence into all aspects of the work day.
• Assesses patients and identifies physical, spiritual, nutritional, and psychosocial needs for patients requiring all levels of care with a focus on the patient with complex needs.
• Identifies and manages common side effects associated with cancer treatment and evaluates patient/family response to nursing interventions.
• Acts as a resource for the nursing process to other clinical nurses.

• Graduate of a program in professional nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of Iowa.
• Strongly preferred OCN certification within 2 years of employment.
• After 9 months of employment, must successfully complete the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course.
• Completes Mandatory Reporting:
  Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintain current status.
