The nurse assistant provides patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse. This care focuses on personal hygiene, nutritional needs and activities of daily living. This position will support the Surgical team.

Part time

Night Shift

• Assists with patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and educational needs and supports the patient's plan of care throughout the patient’s stay.
• Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to the Registered Nurse and multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes, and documents in the electronic/paper medical record accurately and timely.
• Provides for patient comfort, safety, and protects dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
• Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic and professional manner, and accepts assignments willingly.

Part time, Nights, 24 hrs. weekly, 12 hr. shifts.

Education:

• Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required.
• Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N. program with successful completion of first semester of the A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in the BSN, or graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program.
• Registered on State of Iowa Nurse Aide registry listing as “Active” or eligible, preferred.

Experience:

• Nursing Assistant experience preferred.

• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.
• Self‑motivated and detail oriented individual.
• Completes the following mandatory courses:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer‑LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
  • Mandatory Reporting:
    Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.
