GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. Delivers quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. Supports the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process focus. Requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and strong product knowledge communication skills.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them consistently through:

Performance
  • Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
  • Meeting or exceeding an $800 weekly sales goal and productivity targets, delivering exceptional guest service, and contributing to store sales, loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
  • Demonstrating business acumen and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Conducting product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services, and understanding their ingredients and benefits.
  • Maintaining prompt, regular attendance.
People
  • Developing guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
  • Providing high standards of customer service and salon image.
  • Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
  • Partnering with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
  • Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners for collaborative service delivery.
  • Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
  • Attending mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
  • Following service protocols for consistent, exceptional guest experiences.
  • Using booking and clientele systems effectively for scheduling and follow-up.
  • Communicating supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards across the store.
  • Adhering to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
  • Executing other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Cosmetology license required.

Experience

  • Previous relevant salon experience preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in latest salon techniques across services and aptitude to develop skills.
  • Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
  • Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to build and maintain client relationships and clientele.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Frequent mobility and physical activity during shifts.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks.
