Details:
Hospital Cardiac Surgery Program; we have a growing program for heart surgeries. Trauma Level: Level II trauma center. Work setting:
Most work is in the hospital. Sometimes, you may need to supervise CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) at an outpatient surgery center (ASC) if there are no scheduled heart surgeries. Documentation system/EMR:
Cerner now, with a transition to EPIC; some paperwork is still done on paper. Surgeries each day: usually 1 heart surgery per day, not every day, plus 5-7 general surgeries every day. When there are no heart surgeries, you should help with general surgeries. Anesthesiologists in practice:
6. Patient ages: adolescents, adults, and elderly; very sick children are sent to other hospitals better equipped for their care. Operating rooms: 8 rooms used at the same time. Estimated Credentialing Time: about 8 to 12 weeks to complete the credentialing process.
- Perform and supervise anesthesia care for cardiac and general surgeries as assigned.
- When there are no scheduled heart surgeries, assist with general surgeries and supervise CRNAs at ASC if needed.
- Coordinate with a team of six anesthesiologists and other OR staff in a multi-room setting (eight operating rooms).
- Engage with patients across a wide age range, noting that very sick children may be referred to other facilities.
- Cardiac Anesthesiology Certification:
Board Certified preferred;
Board Eligible considered. - License:
Active Iowa license or IMLC; upload Letter of Qualification when checking name. - TEE Certification:
Ability to read, interpret, and bill for TEE procedures (not only place the probe). - Cardiac Fellowship:
Preferred, but extensive experience is acceptable if TEE certified. - Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, and PALS. - COVID Vaccination:
Vaccinated against COVID-19. - Availability:
Available on the requested dates. - Background:
Clean malpractice and general background record.
