Job Description
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Historic Preservation Office and National Grid’s Indigenous Peoples Initiative (IPI) are offering an eight‑week paid summer internship. This unique collaboration between a Tribal Historic Preservation Office and a utility company reflects a shared commitment to strengthening culturally grounded preservation practice and meaningful Tribal engagement.
The internship places an intern within the Tribe’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office, providing direct, hands‑on experience supporting cultural resource protection and preservation initiatives.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe program offers meaningful exposure to Tribal governance and federal preservation frameworks — including the National Historic Preservation Act, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act — along with culturally grounded preservation practices.
It is ideal for students and emerging professionals with interests in historic preservation, environmental studies, Indigenous studies, sustainability, and related disciplines.
Salary & Benefits$24–$29 hourly
