Surgical Coordinator, Plastic Surgery (Per Diem) (Masphee)

- Schedule surgical appointments for the practice.
- Obtain reports of lab work, X‑ray, EKG reports from primary care doctor, cardiologist, etc. and fax to the appropriate facilities.
- Obtain surgical authorizations in accordance with insurance company guidelines to ensure proper financial clearance.
- Communicate with referring providers regarding scheduling and completion of surgeries.
- Check‑in and check‑out patients as needed; verify and obtain insurance and demographic information, collect co‑payments, and schedule follow‑up appointments.
- Answer the phone in a timely, polite and professional manner, in three rings or less, directs calls to appropriate persons and takes accurate messages within the electronic medical record.
- Demonstrate the ability to adjust to unexpected changes to assure that all responsibilities/duties are met during absences or increased patient volumes.
- Maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Float to front desk for coverage when needed.
- Float to other MACC practices when required.
- Perform other work‑related duties and activities as assigned or requested.
- Read, write and communicate in English.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in a medical office setting, including scheduling, of at least one (1) year experience or Bachelor’s Degree.
- Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- At least one (1) year experience with current office technology, proficient with medical computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.) preferred.
- Medical Terminology knowledge preferred.
- Typing skills at 30 WPM preferred.
To provide surgical scheduling services in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with departmental procedures while providing outstanding customer service to all existing and potential MACC patients.
