Job Description

As a teacher in the Mashpee Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom; align your teaching to the district and state standards; regularly assess students for learning comprehension and modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learnings needs of all students, especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

* Plan a program of study to meet students' academic, social, and emotional developmental needs.

* Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.

* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

* Promote and appreciate diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and/or second language learners.

* Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate objectives to students.

* Utilize innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence to learn.

* Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.

* Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

* Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom to develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom.

* Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aids and/or volunteers.

* Attend staff meetings and serve on staff and school committees. Maintains professional competence through participation in professional growth activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

* DESE Certification in the content area

* SEI Endorsement

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Demonstrated experience with elementary learning principles

* Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

* Cori and fingerprint clearance are required
