Position Overview
The Senior Manager of IoT and MES Deployment will lead the strategy, development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing execution systems and connected factory solutions across global manufacturing operations. This role drives efficiency, quality, and data integrity by integrating operational technology (OT) with information technology (IT) infrastructure and leveraging IoT data for real-time decision-making and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies and roadmaps for MES and IIoT initiatives.
- Manage complex MES/IIoT projects, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
- Oversee the integration of MES with other enterprise systems and shop floor equipment using various communication protocols.
- Analyze MES and IoT data to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead and mentor a team of Deployment Specialists.
- Ensure systems comply with company standards and best practices.
- Manage external vendor relationships and optimize internal resources.
- Lead change management for system implementations and upgrades.
- Education: A Bachelor's or master’s degree in IT, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 8-10+ years of experience in digital manufacturing solutions, including MES and IoT systems.
- Technical
Skills:
Expertise in MES platforms, industrial automation, communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT), and familiarity with cloud and data technologies are important. - Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills are essential.
- Software & Platforms: Proficiency with specific MES platforms IIoT integration tools (e.g.,Inductive Automation's Ignition), and programming languages like C#, Java, Python.
- Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with major cloud computing solutions (Azure, AWS, etc.) for data storage and analytics.
- Automation & Controls: Strong knowledge of automation technologies, controls, and system integration, including SCADA, DCS, PLC, HMI, robotics, and AGVs.
- Integration Expertise: Experience in systems integration (e.g., ERP, LIMS, QMS) using APIs, web services, or other modern integration technologies.
- Risk Management: Work across departments to reduce cyber risks for both IT-managed network infrastructure and business applications deployments.
- Security Protocols: Ensure security protocols are embedded within all IoT frameworks and systems to maintain data integrity and system resilience.
- Strategic Vision: A visionary and strategic thinker with strong execution discipline is crucial for driving modernization initiatives.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to lead and mentor engineers while influencing cross-functional teams (operations, supply chain, engineering, IT) to ensure accountability.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills are necessary to articulate value propositions and technical concepts to both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for navigating complex technical and operational challenges.
