Job Summary: Systems Engineer will work in a manufacturing environment to collect and organize machine and sensor data. This entails a broad skillset with PLC communications, application development, data collection/storage, and reporting. The candidate will be responsible for creating applications that collect and store critical data for use in business intelligence and reporting. This position will assist DENSO in bringing IoT systems online in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
- Experience collecting machine and sensor data (e.g., through Ethernet/IP, etc.) to the middleware device to collect and process data.
- Program various PLC types (OMRON CJ, NX, NJ, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Keyence) to populate tags and data sets to be collected from the machine.
- Install Linux on the gateway PC and configure it to be placed on the company network.
- Program Ignition projects (Python, Jython (Python 2.7)) to collect data from various data sources and send to the server destination via API.
- Set up the PC to transfer files from source PC to the database via FTP.
- Proficient in parsing log files, ETL tools, and data modeling.
- Project schedule and output management for assigned projects with coordination with CoC and requesting departments to meet the needs. Requires flexibility to negotiate and recalibrate the schedule or outputs based on the requestor's situation and must have the ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate across functions.
- May train or mentor less experienced engineers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or other related engineering fields.
- 5+ years of related experience collecting and reporting machine and sensor data. Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with a variety of PLCs including OMRON, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Keyence.
- Experience with PTC Kepware, Kep Server, SQL Server, machine monitoring and learning, Tableau.
- Experience with SCADA, DCS, or similar systems.
- Experience with different OS (Windows Server, Linux, etc.).
- Experience with inductive automation's ignition products.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to troubleshoot production processes to identify the root cause of problems and design, develop, and implement appropriate countermeasures to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
- Provide technical support to production in order to solve problems related to quality, productivity, safety, etc.
- May prepare assembly programs for new products and may perform setup of programs on equipment.
- May facilitate and attend meetings and prepare reports as necessary based on daily production activities related to IT Systems Engineering.
