Senior Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling complex accounts, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and assisting with tax compliance and annual reviews. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative office environment and is comfortable managing multiple responsibilities and personalities across accounting functions.

• Reconcile various general ledger accounts including prepaids, inventory, and fixed assets while maintaining and improving supporting schedules
• Reconcile dealer inventory accounts across multiple locations
• Reconcile dealer accounts including billing, drafting, and depositing funds through the banking system
• Calculate monthly dealer commissions and ensure timely deposit of funds
• Prepare and maintain LIFO inventory schedules and related calculations
• Prepare journal entries and upload them into the general ledger system
• Serve as backup support for Accounts Receivable and Cash Management functions as needed
• Prepare State and Local Sales & Use Tax returns and Federal Excise Tax returns, maintaining detailed and organized work papers
• Partner with the Corporate Controller in month-end and year-end close processes
• Collaborate with Corporate Controller to review processes, work towards automation of office tasks to shorten the monthly close cycle
• Assist with the annual financial review, working directly with the Controller and external CPA firm if necessary

• Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
• Two years of relevant experience in accounting
• Fixed asset accounting experience preferred
• Retail accounting experience preferred; convenience store or gasoline industry experience strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills required
• Experience with PDI software preferred
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
• Team-oriented with a willingness to support cross-functional responsibilities
• Office-based position within a collaborative team culture
• Extended hours may be required during month-end, year-end close, and other peak periods
