Nodaway Nursing Home is seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating residents with communication and swallowing disorders. Your expertise and resident-centered approach will contribute to the overall well‑being and quality of life of our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results, patient history, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals
  • Implement evidence‑based therapy techniques and interventions to enhance residents communication and swallowing skills
  • Monitor and document residents progress toward meeting therapy goals and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Educate residents and their families about their conditions, communication strategies, and home exercises to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive resident care
  • Stay updated with the latest research and developments in speech therapy and evidence‑based practices
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and guidelines pertaining to speech therapy services
  • Participate in team meetings, conferences, and professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills
Qualifications
  • Valid state license or eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Certificate of clinical competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) preferred
  • Previous experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist is highly desired
  • Knowledge of and expertise in evaluating and treating a variety of communication and swallowing disorders across all age groups
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to determine appropriate therapy strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with residents, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team‑based setting
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation and record‑keeping purposes
