Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer 1 assists in maintaining the production process flow and production line structure for design Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operational Excellence. This role contributes to the operations by supporting production element mainly through Bill of Materials, Routers, and work instructions. This role also contributes to optimizing manufacturing resource usage through continuous improvement.

Summary of Duties
  • Support deliverables during the manufacturing (production) engineering phase such as production documentation, industrial validation process
  • Provide feedback to design engineering to improve product design for ease of manufacturing, optimization of cost, weight reduction and time to manufacture product
  • In product design phase: assist in activities that demonstrate production constraints and opportunities are recognized and addressed - evaluate the current state of industrial capacity and capability relative to program requirements - propose changes to program plans to ensure that production cost, quality and delivery objectives can be met
  • Assist in identification of capital expense and infrastructure investments
  • Review basic 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturability
  • Perform basic time studies, develop work breakdown structures, develop work instructions
  • Support industrialization metrics in line with Cabin standard KPI's and communicate performance on a regular basis
  • Contribute to costing and Bids and Proposals submitted to customers
  • Use Lean principles in daily work
  • Know and understand regulatory requirements, customer specifications and company specifications
  • Understand machining, assembly lines, BOM creation, line layout
  • Be capable with most site manufacturing procedures
  • Understand engineering drawings and 3D models and how they relate to manufacturability
  • Working knowledge of assembly line and composites manufacturing
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
    • Experience: Minimum 1 year related experience in highly regulated engineering design or production environment.

      Skills:

      Basic understanding of ERP systems
      Basic functional knowledge of CATIA V5 & Smarteam
      Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Other

      Skills:

      Experience working at an aircraft or other aerospace OEM
      Knowledge of common materials and manufacturing processes used in the aerospace industry
      Proven ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and models
      Knowledge of LEAN tools
      Basic organization and communication skills
      Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally with significant oversight and review
      Basic communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
      Basic knowledge of primary processes like CNC machining, Layup and Crush Core
      Some CAD experience
