Job DescriptionThere are two (2) vacant positions; only one (1) application is needed. This is a reposting; if you applied previously, you must apply again to be considered.
What You’ll Do- Supervises correction officers (COs) and Correction Sergeants/Counselors assigned to posts/areas or special duty (e.g., tool control, armory, count office, mail room, transportation, visitation)
- Instructs and evaluates COs
- Assigns staff to posts
- Enforces post orders assignments
- Ensures COs and correction sergeants/counselors are alert and properly placed at posts by inspecting each post
- Enforces the use of body worn cameras with COs and proper use of body scanners on the incarcerated population
- Conducts surveillance of institution and property
- Prevents escapes, apprehends escapees, and responds to incidents that threaten security and safety
- Makes rounds to inspect cells, shops, recreation areas, and dining rooms for cleanliness, safety compliance, contraband, and security
- Monitors and directs custody operations during inmate movement
- Attends monthly unit meetings and assists in supervising Officers in the unit
- Assists in supervising and arranging meaningful activities
- Assists in developing and enforcing memorandums of understanding between service departments and units; responds to staff concerns
- Ensures availability and use of PPE for officers
- Responds to the needs of incarcerated persons
- Manages disputes and reports complaints of abuse by employees
- Participates in team approach to unit planning, operation and problem solving; responds to emergencies
- Gathers information and writes reports on accidents, fires, and disciplinary actions
- Completes employee and incarcerated worker performance evaluations
- Schedules work assignments, population bed movement, meals, educational and recreational activities
- Serves on rules infraction boards or other committees as required
- Ensures safety and security of equipment and supplies
- Makes periodic rounds
