Child Development Assistant - Part Time (Temporary)

Under the direction of an Administrator or designee, assist in the operation of a child care center for children; assist with providing a high quality child development program.
Responsibilities- Assist in the implementation of a program of activities that contributes to the care, growth and development of children and enhances their safety.
- Assist Yuba College Early Childhood Education students in implementing activities for children in a laboratory environment as part of their instructional program; provide input to student progress as directed.
- Assist small groups of children to follow established schedules of developmentally appropriate activities.
- Assist with providing a quality child care program; assist in planning and development of the program; prepare lesson plans; compile resources and materials.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings as required; prepare records and reports as directed.
- Record attendance of children; assist in discussions with parents as requested.
- Assist in maintaining and controlling inventory of instructional supplies.
- Perform custodial and maintenance duties as required to maintain a physical environment that conforms to applicable standards of health and safety.
- Oversee the operation of the Center independently in cases of absences or emergencies; perform related duties as assigned.
Part‑time position (.50 PTE – 12 months), average commitment of 20 hours per week. Daily four‑hour shifts Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Salary: $23.98 – $27.81 per hour (Steps 5‑11). Placement based on experience and education.
Benefits:
Part‑time less than .60 PTE are not entitled to district paid fringe benefits. Employees receive prorated leaves, vacation, sick leave, paid holidays. Employees less than .50 PTE contribute to the Alternative Retirement System (AARP). Employees .50‑.60 PTE contribute to CalPERS.
- Academic: sufficient coursework to qualify for a Child Development Associate Permit (at least 12 core units in Early Childhood Education or equivalent). One year of experience in a child development program.
- Licenses:
Child Development Associate Permit or equivalent;
First Aid and CPR certificates;
California Child Care Provider Health and Safety Certificate (to be obtained within 30 working days).
