Adjunct Psychiatric Technician Instructor
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
Responsible to the Dean of Applied Academics and the Director of Nursing, Allied Health for the performance of assigned responsibilities. The instructor provides education in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies; evaluates progress of students concerning educational matters, develops and assesses student learning outcomes, and performs other instructional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :- Organize and instruct in the clinical components of the Psychiatric Technician Program curriculum.
- Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments.
- Utilize appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
- Monitor, counsel, assist, and evaluate the progress of students within classes.
- Maintain a functional liaison with the clinical agencies associated with the program’s clinical component.
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees.
- Participate in the various professional organizations that directly or indirectly relate to the education of the psychiatric technician student.
REQUIRED DUTIES :
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
- Any associate degree and six years of full-time occupational experience in the related field.
- Any bachelor’s degree and two years of full-time occupational experience in the related field.
- The equivalent (not specified).
- Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area.
In addition, must have A or B below:
- (A) Registered Nurse
- Hold a current active license as a Registered Nurse.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination therein within the last five (5) years; or a minimum of three years experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five (5) years.
- (B) Licensed Psychiatric Technician
- Hold a current active license as a psychiatric technician.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a psychiatric technician; one (1) year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination therein within the last six (6) years; or have a minimum of three (3) years experience in mental health administration or education within the last six (6) years.
- Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach the Psychiatric Technician Program.
- Familiarity with the use of technology, laboratories, or other methods for teaching clinical courses.
- Experience supervising and/or working with the Developmental Disabilities or Mental Health population.
- Professional memberships and network that will help to promote the program.
Range/Step 1–7 (Based on degree and teaching experience).
Salary Range$53.28 – $86.94 per hour.
