Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Big Bear.ai is seeking at Software Engineer with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph to develop cutting edge visualizations. This position will be based out the Annapolis Junction, MD area. The idea candidate for this position is someone who knows they’re a top-notch performer and isn’t afraid to show off their skills. If you like building innovative visualizations from complex data sets in a highly collaborative environment, then this is the right place for you.

This contract provides operations research, modeling and simulation services responsible for the development and application of quantitative analytical methods, including models and simulations, to support Agency operations.

• Develops, implements, and supports the usage of data visualization toolkit, configuration, deployment, and usage.
• Python or Java
  → Core backend engineer, likely working on APIs, services, or data processing pipelines.
• Multi-dimensional, time-series, drill-down visualizations
  → Someone comfortable working with data-heavy UIs
  , analytics platforms, or monitoring/BI-style tools—not just basic CRUD apps.
• REST + Full-Stack
  → Builds and consumes APIs; understands frontend-backend integration.
• Relational databases (MySQL/Postgres)→ Structured data, complex queries, possibly reporting or analytics workloads.
• Linux environment
  → Production-minded engineer, likely deploying, debugging, and operating services in real-world environments.

• Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance
• Technical BS and 14 or more years of experience
• Python or Java
• Experience building multi-dimensional visualizations to include time-series, cascading, and drill-down interfaces
• Full stack experience using REST
• MySQL or Postgre
  
  SQL or other relational database experience
• Experience developing in a Linux environment
