Position: Software Engineer Level 2 with Security Clearance
Location: Annapolis Junction

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements, including processing-intensive analytics, legacy system modernization, algorithm development, data manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems. Works individually or as part of a team to support software development and modernization efforts, including migration of legacy code bases to modern programming languages and architectures. Reviews, analyzes, and tests software components for adherence to design requirements and documents test results.

Debugs existing software, resolves software problem reports, and supports defect remediation across legacy and modernized systems. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system-level to individual software components.

Supports legacy application analysis by reviewing existing code bases (e.g., PERL) and translating functionality into modern programming languages (e.g., JAVA), ensuring functional equivalence, performance improvement, and maintainability. The Level 2 Software Engineer (SWE) shall possess the following capabilities:
* Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
* Debug existing software and correct defects in both legacy and modernized systems.
* Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
* Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware or platforms, or improve performance.
* Review, interpret, and refactor legacy code to support migration to updated programming languages and architectures.
* Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
* Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards; confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage, and work processes; and investigate problem areas.
* Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
* Design or implement algorithms requiring adherence to timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
* Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
* Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
* Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation.
* Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
* Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
* Perform quality control on team products and ensure adherence to development standards.
* Serve as team lead at a level appropriate to the software development process being used on the project.
* Oversee one or more software development efforts and ensure work is completed in accordance with project constraints.
* Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
* Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met. Requirements
* A current and active TS/SCI Clearance with a MD Polygraph is required to be considered.
* Fourteen (14) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
* A Bachelorx
27s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
* Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelorx
27s degree.
