Paragon Professional Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is seeking Transportation Officers for Armed Ground Transportation Services for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Maryland. The candidate will assume full-time status at a salary of $27.68 per hour. The onboarding and training process typically takes 4-8 weeks.

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform transportation duties in accordance with PBNDS Standards and Training.
• Document all detainee transports, ensuring the safety of detainee records and possessions. Provide trip documentation promptly.
• Inform supervisors and coordinators of any route changes.
• Obtain necessary detainee documentation before departure.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records.
• Report safety issues immediately and complete repair orders.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure all required equipment is present in the vehicle.
• Arrive at scheduled times and adhere to post orders and protocols if stationed at a guard post.
• Carry required identification and permits at all times.
• Complete post-vehicle checks and submit receipts and incident reports as needed.
• Maintain a valid armed guard/firearms permit and recertify as required.
• Be prepared for rotating shifts, as the contract operates 24/7.

Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• High School Diploma.
• Current federal background investigation or ability to obtain one (e-QIP).
• At least 2 years of law enforcement or military police experience, or 6 months security experience involving detainees, or 2 years of active military service with honorable discharge.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Maryland Wear and Carry Permit.
• Maryland Security Guard Certification.
• Commercial Driver’s License for the state of residence.

Must maintain physical fitness for prolonged sitting, bending, and walking. Work involves exposure to various individuals and potential pathogens in a transportation vehicle environment. This position is not DOT safety-sensitive.

Ability to obtain and maintain federal clearance, permits, and certifications. Pass drug screenings and background checks. Valid driver’s license required.
