If so, we are seeking someone like you to join our team  are seeking a Chemistry Lab Technician for our Chemical Sciences Group, residing within the Research & Exploratory Development Department (REDD).

The Chemistry Lab Technician will support multiple technical thrust areas across our group. As part of the Research & Exploratory Development Department, our group conducts basic and applied research, in the Chemical Sciences, to make critical contributions to national security challenges. In this role, you will serve as an integral member of the group, contributing to general lab maintenance as well as sponsored projects and internal research efforts.

You will use your excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to keep processes running efficiently in our facility, coordinating service contracts, ordering consumables, and optimizing facility function.

Responsibilities
  • As a Chemistry Lab Technician, you will:
    • Assist with day-to-day laboratory operations by:
    • Managing chemical and lab supply inventory
    • Handling hazardous waste disposal
    • Supporting basic procurement needs
    • Helping ensure safe laboratory operations
    • Manage instrument maintenance schedules
  • Performing tasks utilizing standard laboratory protocols under direction of technical professional staff. Tasks may include:
    • Stock solution preparation
    • Routine sample analysis via various analytical chemistry methods
    • Standard synthetic chemistry operations
    • Sample testing and characterization
Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a high school diploma.
  • Have 4+ years working in a chemistry laboratory environment?
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills to contribute to teams from any position.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance to start and can ultimately obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Have an Associate Degree and 5+ years of professional experience in the Chemical Sciences or a relevant field.
  • Have formal experience working in a research facility.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of productive collaborations with multidisciplinary teams.
