Quality Manager – Aviation Maintenance

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

The Quality Manager – Aviation Maintenance provides oversight and management of the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) programs supporting Coast Guard aviation maintenance operations. With 10–15 years of Coast Guard aviation experience and FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification, this role ensures all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, Coast Guard directives, OEM technical publications, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage the aviation Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with FAA regulations, Coast Guard maintenance directives, OEM manuals, and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections, and surveillance of maintenance operations to verify adherence to approved procedures and standards.
  • Review and validate maintenance documentation, logbooks, and records for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor scheduled, phase, and unscheduled inspection programs to ensure proper execution and documentation.
  • Oversee corrective action processes and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies and non-conformances.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external audits conducted by regulatory agencies, customers, and corporate representatives.
  • Analyze quality trends and performance metrics to identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and training to maintenance personnel on regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and quality procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety management systems (SMS) and occupational health standards.
  • Prepare and submit quality reports to leadership outlining compliance status and improvement initiatives.

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Quality Manager:
Pay commensurate with experience.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Aviation Safety, Quality Management, or related field preferred.
Certifications
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification required.
  • Quality or safety certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, Six Sigma, Safety Management Systems training) preferred.
  • Military platform certifications preferred.
Experience
  • 10–15 years of Coast Guard aviation maintenance experience required.
  • Extensive experience with rotorcraft and turbine engine maintenance programs.
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or supervisory experience in an aviation maintenance environment preferred.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting regulatory audits and inspections required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations, Coast Guard maintenance policies, and aviation safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory publications.
  • Ability to work independently and make compliance‑based decisions in high‑tempo environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, bend, and work in hangar or flight‑line environments as required.
  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass pre‑employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
