Quality Assurance Supervisor – Maola Local Dairies

Overview

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and advancing our food safety and quality programs. Throughout daily process checks and short- and long-term projects, the QA Supervisor ensures that all procedures meet regulatory compliance so our products are safe and of high quality for our consumers. This position also oversees daily lab functions, including employee development, safety, continuous improvement, data analysis, problem solving, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily QA activities, including sampling, testing, and documentation for products.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory standards, as well as company policies and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) guidelines.
  • Monitor production processes to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and develop preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present quality reports to management.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise QA technicians and staff.
  • Schedule and manage QA team activities to ensure coverage across shifts.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and food safety awareness.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology, or related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance within the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industry; dairy experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory quality role.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, cGMP, FSMA, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Frequently required to stand and walk. Must be able to reach, bend, extend, and lift 50‑60 pounds.

Work Environment
  • Work environment may require working in the cooler room with varying degrees of temperature and may include contact with water or dairy liquids.
  • Exposed to a noise level of 90 decibels, generally moderate to high. Wet/slippery conditions.
