Miltec UV has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Specialist/Buyer to join our Materials Management team in Stevensville, Maryland. Come join our team and work alongside our UV experts, Engineers, and other associates advancing Miltec's technologies and systems.

Responsible for the continuous supply and timely procurement of all materials to maintain maximum production levels at optimum costs consistent with Miltec’s quality specifications. Responsible for strategic sourcing and vendor management, developing qualified, dependable suppliers to implement a best-in-class sourcing solution and create sustained competitive advantage for the business.

• Maintain, re-evaluate, and expand reliable sources of supply and secondary sources to promote appropriate competition and ensure continued production.
• Develop a supplier base and appropriate relationships to make Miltec the customer of choice.
• Work closely with suppliers to manage purchases and purchase orders including the cost, quality, scheduling, and deliveries to prioritize production requirements.
• Investigates order discrepancies and acts as a liaison between purchasing, accounts payable, sales, project managers, and suppliers to resolve issues related to costing, deliveries, and supplier performance.
• Implement and maintain an effective expediting program to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Generate department reports, including Scheduling Audit, Open Order Report and Buyers Advice.
• Monitors and coordinates purchase requisition processing for indirect materials, verifying appropriate approvals are received.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of materials being purchased.
• Open order follow-up, verifying order confirmations are received, following up with suppliers and keeping information updated and accurate in the business system.
• Expedites orders daily to ensure on time delivery of direct materials for manufacturing activities and customer sales orders.
• Work with suppliers on intense issues that need immediate response and resolution.
• Updates supplier records and ensures necessary documents are on file for all active suppliers.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Production Planning to ensure adequate quantities of components and packaging are available while maintaining the lowest possible inventory levels.
• Personally abide by and enforce ethical practices in all dealings with company suppliers.
• Strong effective communications skills to actively engage suppliers and ensure they are performing to Miltec’s expectations and specifications.
• Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
• Maintain Miltec’s work instructions and SOP’s as it relates to the supply chain.
• Recommend improvements that affect the Company’s supply chain operation.
• Ensure proper approval is received on all requests prior to processing orders.
• Communicate order status as requested.
• Monitors item shortage reports for finished goods, triggering the replenishment of stock.
• Maintains a professional relationship with suppliers and provides suppliers with performance metrics.
