JOB TITLE: FABRICATION TECHNICIAN II
DEPARTMENT: FABRICATION & MODIFICATION
REPORTS TO: UAV PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT
JOB SUMMARY:With minimal supervision, the Fabrication Technician II performs complex fabrication, layout, and measurement tasks. Set up, quality prep, and assist in resolving fabrication issues. This role ensures safe and efficient use of fabrication equipment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:- Layout and fabrication of aircraft parts such as ribs, stringers, and doublers, etc. using standard sheet metal and composite repair techniques and measuring tools such as calipers, dial calipers and scales.
- Set up and operate press brakes, shears, and water jet equipment
- Performs composite fabrication and repair work on aircraft structures and components.
- Interpret and verify accuracy of weld parameters and fabrication logs
- Properly identify areas in need of repair, remove and install aircraft parts in a precise and timely manner.
- Coordinate material movements and ensure parts are processed correctly
- Utilize fabrication machines including drill press, band saw, chop saw, bending breaks and shears.
- Support training of part–time level technicians
- Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required.
- High School diploma or GED and 2-5 years of experience performing job related duties
- Must be able to hold tolerances
- Must be familiar with the different properties and strengths of aluminum
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, including project managers, engineers, shop supervisors, technical specialists, craftsmen, and other stakeholders
- Proficient in measurement, layout, and edge finishing techniques
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Familiarity with Mil Specs components and processes
- Aviation knowledge and experience
- Composites manufacturing or repair experience in aerospace, defense, or similar industries.
- Familiar with military aviation operations
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, more with assistance.
- Work environment consists of various office and manufacturing settings with may have exposure to noise, varying temperatures, smells, and chemicals.
- Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
