Technical Sales Representative & Manufacturing Site Leader

Responsibilities

Phase 1:
Technical Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, orders and technical questions.
  • Provide detailed product information, specifications, and application guidance.
  • Prepare accurate and timely quotes, proposals and order confirmations.
  • Manage the full order cycle – from quote generation to delivery follow‑up.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers while supporting new business opportunities.

Technical Support & Application Guidance

  • Interpret customer requirements and recommend suitable products or solutions.
  • Read and work with technical drawings, specifications and material data.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production to confirm manufacturability, lead times and custom product options.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and after‑sales support.

Sales Growth & Business Development

  • Identify upselling and cross‑selling opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Support outbound prospecting and lead follow‑up.
  • Assist outside sales representatives with quotations and technical support.

Phase 2:
Site Operations Leadership Transition

  • Shadow the current Site Manager to learn all aspects of site operations including production, scheduling, maintenance, quality and materials management.
  • Ensure production goals are met safely, on time and within budget.
  • Monitor and improve key performance metrics such as throughput, scrap rates, downtime and on‑time delivery.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a strong safety culture by enforcing company policies and ensuring compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in safety training, inspections and incident investigations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and enhance product quality.
  • Apply lean tools (5S, visual management, standard work) suitable for a small plant environment.
  • Support or lead small‑scale capital and improvement projects.

People Leadership

  • Begin managing small teams or projects to build leadership experience.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, train and retain skilled employees.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability and continuous learning.

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

  • Learn to oversee preventive maintenance schedules and ensure equipment uptime.
  • Work closely with maintenance and engineering staff to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.

Financial & Planning Responsibilities

  • Support site budget management and cost control.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to ensure material availability and inventory accuracy.
  • Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in technical sales, customer service or operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, or mechanical components preferred.
  • Experience using ERP and CRM systems.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn manufacturing processes and product details.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written.
  • Leadership potential with a desire to grow into a site management role.
  • Strong problem‑solving, multitasking and organizational abilities.
  • Customer‑focused with a proactive, solutions‑oriented approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and production management tools.
