We are seeking a Controller
to lead and oversee the company’s accounting operations, branch administration, and financial management. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and provides strategic insights to support company growth. The Controller will work closely with executive leadership to optimize efficiency, manage risk, and drive financial performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee all accounting and branch administrative operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Manage revenue recognition, invoicing, collections, deposit reconciliation, and branch-level cash flow to ensure alignment with budgets and forecasts.
  • Lead the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Supervise the completion of Work in Progress (WIP) calculations, manual journal entries, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, licensing requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Oversee administrative processes at each branch, implementing standardized policies and ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
  • Partner with managers to monitor financial and operational performance, providing guidance to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate expense management and budget adherence, ensuring consistent reporting across locations.
  • Support HR and branch leadership with payroll administration, onboarding, and staffing compliance.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with W-9s, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), and Master Service Agreements (MSAs).
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax professionals during audits and reviews.
  • Regularly evaluate and improve accounting procedures and branch workflows to enhance productivity and safeguard assets.
  • Provide leadership with actionable financial insights to support strategic planning and business growth.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial compliance, and internal controls.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Experience managing branch or multi-location administrative operations strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and complex legal/contractual documents.
  • Experience working with auditors, tax professionals, and external consultants.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and financial systems; experience with Sage or similar accounting software strongly preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • BS in Accounting or similar field from a 4-year college or university.
  • CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting or a similar industry environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific accounting standards (e.g., construction, real estate, non-profit) is beneficial.
