Cecil College was founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents and serves the community with a focus on accessible learning opportunities for all.
The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president reports to the Board of Trustees. Cecil College is located in Maryland’s northeastern county, with easy access from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and nearby states.
With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non‑credit classes. BJob SummaryThe Custodian is responsible for maintaining campus facilities in a safe and efficient manner. Due to interaction with students, employees and the college community, this position requires in‑person presence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Cleans building spaces through daily assignments.
- Vacuums classrooms, hallways, furniture, and common areas.
- Cleans bathrooms.
- Dusts assigned areas.
- Washes windows.
- Cleans tables.
- Removes trash and recyclables and disposes of them in proper receptacles.
- Sweeps and mops floors.
- Buffs, strips, and waxes floors.
- Monitors supplies levels in custodial closets.
- Participates in all required safety and occupational training.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensures compliance with College rules and policies.
- Assists other departments as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Prior custodial experience preferred. Employment experience in a college or university setting is preferred. - Proficiencies:
Ability to work well with others throughout the campus community. Ability to use Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
The schedule for the position is Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm. Flexibility for inclement weather and special events that may require evening, Saturday, and Sunday work hours is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. The physical activity of this position includes climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting and sitting.
WORK ENVIRONMENTCandidate will be exposed to dust, noise, fumes, and odors. Work may occur in indoor and outdoor environments. Safety equipment will be provided where needed and required to be worn or used.

This is a non‑exempt (hourly), overtime‑eligible position;
Grade 105 (pay scale: $16.46–$26.33/hr). The hourly rate for the position based on budget is $17.46/hr initial salary placement is based on internal equity and relevant candidate experience.
