Position ScopeThis position reports to the Manager Global Supply Planning. It is responsible for the effective scheduling and inventory control for the assigned product groups including instruments and/or consumables. This includes the Master Production scheduling of a manufacturing site, or purchased requirements from an OEM supplier. The Planner works with the manufacturing planners/operations to ensure level loading the capacity of the resources in the plant.
They are responsible for achieving and maintaining the safety stock level for each product at the required Distribution Centers to support global demand. They will lead the monthly Supply Planning meetings to ensure product needs are met. They are to focus on process improvements and planning system expertise in order to facilitate excellent customer service and asset management. They are responsible for viewing world‑wide demand and ensuring balanced supply.
They are the liaison to the business cross‑functional leadership team (platform) to understand business strategy, future business needs, and execute supply planning activities in support of these defined needs. They provide guidance to the regions on business strategy and inventory levels, recommend replenishment models, and ensure alignment with agreed-to business decisions globally.
- Responsible for Global Service Level achievement for assigned product groups. Key Performance Metrics include:
Backorder, DIO, OTIF (Line Fill) - Responsible for Global Supply Consensus for a group of products
- Owns and drives monthly supply consensus process
- Drives consensus agreement of MPS ensuring supply models accurately represent distribution requirements, production plans, and expected inventory levels
- Works closely with the plant(s) to understand capacity resources and long‑term planning
- Works with plant(s) to ensure updated production plans are in the system to drive CTM propagation
- Monitors manufacturing performance against plan and budget
- Acts as liaison for Regional Supply Planners regarding the supply of DS produced items and OEM vendors (as applicable)
- Responsible for allocation decisions with platform support during short supply situations
- Provide direction on management of long‑term product supply shortages in order to automate the propagation/distribution of the materials with shortages
- Responsible for monitoring Alert Monitors across the network
- Works with Global Demand Planning to gain understanding of product demands across the network
- Liaison to business cross‑functional leadership team (platform) to understand business strategy and future business needs
- Translates business/supply chain/inventory needs into supply needs. Assists in the implementation of go‑to‑market plans, specifically establishing initial stocking quantities, target inventory levels at distribution center locations, lead product changes and support launches
- Drives replenishment model decisions and master data governance for assigned product groups with Regional Supply Planner/Inventory Planner/Plant Planners to drive business outcomes by source site from a cost and priority perspective
- Responsible for driving best practice across the network
- Responsible for defining the appropriate manufacturing strategy for their product portfolio aligned with manufacturing practices
- Participate on and/or lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives to meet supply chain objectives
