Location: Laurel

Data Scientist – Multiple Levels – Clearance and Polygraph Required

Pay range provided by Constellation Technologies, Inc.: $120,000 – $220,000 per year (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement machine learning, data science, and advanced analytical algorithms.
  • Develop and implement programming skills in Python (high‑level) and C (mid‑level) for data mining and statistical analysis.
  • Apply advanced statistical analysis, including statistical foundations of machine learning, missing‑data approaches, and time series.
  • Use advanced mathematical foundations such as numerical methods and graph theory.
  • Work with artificial intelligence, workflow and reproducibility, data management and curation, data modeling and assessment.
  • Develop strategies for extracting meaning and value from large datasets.
  • Make and communicate principled conclusions using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application knowledge.
  • Through analytic modeling, statistical analysis, programming, or other scientific methods, characterize and assess large datasets in various states of organization, cleanliness, and structure, accounting for unique features and limitations inherent to agency data holdings.
  • Translate mission needs and analytic questions related to large data sets into technical requirements and assist others with drawing conclusions from analysis.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical information to non‑technical audiences.
  • Make informed recommendations regarding competing technical solutions while maintaining awareness of agency capabilities and limitations.
Qualifications
  • US Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in the last five (5) years.
  • Level 04: ≥17 years of experience with a degree.
  • Level 03: ≥12 years of experience with a degree.
  • Level 02: ≥5 years of experience with a degree.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field with substantial computational component (≥5 courses ≥300‑level).
  • Relevant experience in designing/implementing machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming, data mining, advanced statistical analysis, advanced mathematical foundations, artificial intelligence, workflow, reproducibility, data management, data modeling, and assessment.
  • Employ a combination (≥2) of the following areas:
    Foundations (Mathematical, Computational, Statistical);
    Data Processing (Data management, curation, description, visualization, workflow, reproducibility);
    Modeling, Inference, and Prediction (Data modeling, assessment, domain‑specific considerations).
Nice to Have
  • Fully cleared polygraph preferred.
  • Knowledge of working with Big Data, dataflows, machine learning/AI familiarity.
  • Experience with analytics in GME, Jupyter notebooks, and Spark.
