Primary Responsibilities (Culinary & Catering)
- Plan and execute meals for retreats, events, and guest stays (5–80 people)
- Design thoughtful, seasonal menus that align with guest needs, dietary restrictions, and event goals
- Create detailed shopping lists
- Maintain food cost awareness and minimize waste
- Oversee kitchen organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards
- Coordinate, vet, & manage additional cooking or service help as needed
- Prepare, cook, and present meals to a high standard
- Ensure timely meal service according to event schedules
- Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment
When the culinary workload is light, the Ranch Chef will assist with:
- Event curation and planning support
- Guest transportation (if qualified to drive ranch vehicles)
- Event setup and teardown (tables, décor, dining areas, etc.)
- General hospitality assistance to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Occasional housekeeping or common‑area support as needed
- Team collaboration across departments
- Experience cooking for groups (commercial, catering, camp, restaurant, or institutional setting)
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and willingness to perform non-culinary tasks
- Physical ability to lift, stand, and move throughout the day
- Commitment to cleanliness and food safety
- Valid driver’s license
- Background check and drug screen required upon offer of employment
- Professional culinary training or equivalent experience
- Experience with large‑batch cooking and buffet service
- Knowledge of dietary accommodations (gluten‑free, dairy‑free, allergies, etc.)
- Serv Safe certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Hospitality, retreat, or ranch experience
- Full‑time – varied schedule based on guest bookings and events
- Evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required
- Fast‑paced during events, slower between groups
- Outdoor and indoor work across ranch facilities
