CNA / PROGRAM ASSISTANT (ADULT DAY SERVICES)

$16.50 - $20.50 per hour

FULL TIME – MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY (30‑40 hours per week)

YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT CNA LICENSE ON THE MARYLAND BOARD OF NURSING

Job Summary

The primary purpose of a Program Assistant/CNA for Adult Day Services is to assist the Director of Adult Day Services in the day‑to‑day operation and administrative duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and the policies, procedures and practices of Fahrney‑Keedy.

Responsibilities
  • Assists participants in boarding and departing from Company vehicles.
  • Transfers and assists with lifting participants as needed.
  • Assists participants with activities of daily living (ADL’s).
  • Assists with preparing and serving meals and snacks for participants.
  • Ensures that each participant is served his/her proper diet and food is prepared and served appropriately.
  • Reports any changes in diet to RN/Director of Health Services.
  • Assists participants in the use of the restroom and shower when necessary.
  • Ensures that all incontinent participants are kept clean and dry at all times.
  • Assists Activity Coordinator with inventory of activity supplies and the cleaning activity and storage areas.
  • Escorts participants on outings, including field trips and doctors’ appointments and ensures that all participants are properly supervised.
  • Assists with the implementation of activities and leading other activities as designated by the Activities Coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs general administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc. and submit these as may be required.
  • Maintains a friendly, productive, working relationship with other members of the department, and facility.
  • Records each participant’s daily arrival and departure time.
  • Reports any complaints or grievances made by participants to the Director of ADC.
  • Participates and cooperates with any facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Director of ADC.
  • Agrees not to disclose assigned user  and passwords for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Director of ADC.
  • Agrees not to disclose participants’ protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Director of ADC.
  • Records medical and administrative information in accordance with our established electronic charting and documentation policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the daily census report and submits to the Business Office.
  • Maintains an up‑to‑date roster of participants for ADC.
  • Answers telephone, page calls, delivers messages to participants, etc.
  • Maintains current listing of emergency phone numbers of ADC.
  • Forwards new diet orders and/or diet changes to the Director of Food Services.
  • Sorts and delivers mail to ADC staff.
  • Completes accident or incident reports.
  • Completes necessary medical and administrative records upon the participant’s entrance or exit from the ADC program.
  • Directs visitors to appropriate ADC staff.
  • Reports any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access the facility’s information system.
  • Ensures that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screensaver activates within established policy guidelines.
  • Completes all annual training and in‑services as required in the COMAR regulations for Adult Day Care in the State of Maryland.
Safety & Infection Control
  • Keeps work area clean, organized and clutter-free.
  • Knows locations of fire extinguishers, fire exits, and policies regarding fires and other emergency disasters.
  • Follows established safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Director of ADC.
  • Reports all safety violations.
  • Reports any communicable or infectious disease to the Director of ADC.
  • Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies.
  • Safely uses only the equipment you have been trained to use.
  • Reports defective equipment to the Director of ADC.
