We’re partnering with a well-established, high-growth organization known for its strong leadership team and collaborative culture. They are seeking an Assistant Controller who is excited to bring fresh ideas, strengthen financial reporting processes, and play a key role in leading and developing a high-performing accounting.
Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Laytonville MD
Days in Office: Full-time in office initially; flexibility earned over time
Pay: $140,000 – $160,000 base salary + bonus potential

Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 7–10 years of experience with a blend of public and corporate experience
- Experience managing and developing a team of 3–5 accounting professionals
- Strong background in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and audit coordination
- Experience working in high-volume or large revenue environments
- Experience supporting multi-entity organizations
- Proven ability to improve accounting processes and strengthen documentation standards
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to operate both hands-on in the details and strategically with leadership
- Serve as the right hand to the Controller supporting the corporate accounting function
- Oversee general ledger activity and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Manage the monthly close process including balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement preparation
- Lead internal financial reporting across multiple operating units in a high-volume environment
- Manage and develop a team of senior and staff accountants
- Coordinate the annual external audit process and serve as the primary liaison with auditors
- Strengthen documentation standards, accounting policies, and internal controls
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and FP&A teams to improve reporting accuracy and close efficiency
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation across accounting workflows
- Support integration of newly acquired entities into accounting systems and reporting processes
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities related to corporate accounting operations
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting support to leadership as needed
