Overview

Project Control Analyst

Location:

Join a mid-sized, employee-owned company focused on serving the Navy and other Department of Defense clients. We are looking for a Project Control Analyst to manage financial aspects of projects for a large contractor support services company. The role involves collaboration across departments to ensure effective contract financial management, including financial planning, reporting, billing, and contract compliance. Preference is given to candidates with a strong background in accounting or finance, experience with Deltek Costpoint, and a track record in government contracting.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning and Tracking — Initiate, monitor, and maintain proper project financial setup in Deltek Costpoint; prepare estimates and RFQs; monitor actuals vs projections and resolve issues; track outstanding commitments; assist with EAC calculations and variance analysis; assist with forecasting and projections; monitor burn rates against funding; initiate and route at-risk forms; assist with funding de-obligations and contract closeouts.
  • Reporting and Analysis — Analyze project reports to identify and resolve issues; perform monthly/quarterly unbilled analysis; review revenue, costs, and profitability; communicate project status to stakeholders; meet month-end close deadlines.
  • Time and Expense Management — Monitor timecards for timely error correction; verify expense reports; ensure timely processing; collaborate with Billing Specialist, Controller, and Director of Accounting for proper coding and timely processing of subcontract/vendor payments.
  • Billing and Invoice Management — Provide customer-specific invoice backup; review and approve draft invoices; monitor billing and payment status; perform monthly accrual calculations.
  • Contract and Funding Management — Monitor funding levels and burn rates with Contract Managers; assist with contract modification requests; alert Contract Managers to funding needs; review contracts, subcontracts, and agreements for financial and reporting compliance.
  • Project Support — Assist Contracts Manager and Operations with work authorizations, risk identification and analysis, and internal/external project reviews; support schedule updates, analysis, and reporting; monitor actual workshare against teaming agreements and notify when deviations occur; monitor contract ceiling utilization and provide updates; review escalation recommendations.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business/Mathematics field; or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of directly related experience in accounting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint project setup, reporting, and billing.
  • Experience in government contracting or defense industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of projects with varying contract types and complexities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and with accounting, contracts, and operations teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to customer-related requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of FAR and CAS.

Salary range: $96,000 - $117,000
