Why do we need you?
Under the supervision of the Process Engineering Leader, the Process Engineer serves as a key technical contributor for manufacturing processes and systems supporting vinyl siding production. This role supports improving process stability, yield, throughput, and cost performance through disciplined application of statistical process control (SPC), data‑driven decision making, and robust process and equipment ownership. The Process Engineer participates and supports in the development, implementation, and sustainment of process improvements, production systems, and capital equipment from concept through commissioning and stable operation.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering, the role translates Must‑Win Battles (MWB), operational targets, and quality objectives into actionable engineering solutions that deliver measurable and sustainable results. This position contributes technical knowledge within team environments and operations teams, establishes process standards, and ensures systems are capable, controlled, and aligned with safety, quality, and business objectives.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to Manufacturing on the siding production floor by owning process stability for assigned lines and implementing sustainable improvements that reduce variation and improve performance.
- Own process instrumentation and measurement systems and Factory+/MES site configuration and adoption by ensuring accuracy and data integrity to support SPC, process capability, and data‑driven decision making in collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality.
- Provide technical support for plant’s color management system by controlling critical parameters, applying SPC and statistical analysis, and partnering with Manufacturing and Quality to ensure consistent appearance and minimize color‑related yield losses.
- Support or lead smaller process‑related capital projects by defining technical requirements, leading system and equipment implementation through commissioning, and verifying sustained performance against safety, quality, yield, and MWB objectives.
- Support improvement projects and events by translating WCM, MWB, and operational priorities into measurable improvements in process stability, yield, throughput, and cost.
- Lead troubleshooting of extrusion and color‑related issues using process data, SPC signals, and root‑cause analysis to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Participate in World Class Manufacturing and SPG intergroup teams by contributing technical expertise, supporting process standardization, and implementing group‑driven improvements within the plant.
- Maintain and advance technical competence in materials, extrusion processes, process control, and emerging technologies to support plant performance and SPG best practice.
- Deliver SPG cost‑reduction initiatives by driving yield improvement, material efficiency, and process capability enhancements aligned with MWB targets and validated through measurable results.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field is required.
- Six Sigma project work strongly preferred.
- Five years experience in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- Three years experience in the Extrusion Industry is desirable.
- Advanced computer knowledge and competence with computer network navigation is critical.
- Experience with VBA software, Python, embedded code development, use of debugger, etc., is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated advanced quantitative analysis skills.
- MS Office Word, Excel, Access, Project and CAD required.
- Travel: 10%.
