Overview MECHANICAL (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for supporting manufacturing projects. This position combines hands-on technical work and maintenance of equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with engineering drawings and quality assurance techniques, organizational skills, in depth experience with precision machining operations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position is 100% on site in Indian Head, MD.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems
* Perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis
* Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for the design improvement modifications and implementation of advanced technologies
* Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed
* Interface with government personnel Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or related field
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
* Proven ability to independently drive tasks and projects from concept to production.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, Solid Works)
* Experience with engineering drawings including GD&T, and design for manufacturing.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams
* Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and producing components and systems.
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
* Technical writing skills, with experience authoring test plans, procedures, and detailed technical reports.
* Familiarity with researching and applying relevant military and commercial specifications and standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO)
* Conceptual and/or practical experience with finite element analysis (FEA) methods to support mechanical design and evaluation
* In the office up to 5 days per week as required with option for situational telework.
* Physical Demand: *
* Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Regular exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations typical of a machine shop.
* Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
* Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access materials or equipment. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. #LI-KC1
