Mechanical Design Engineer

A Direct Hire opportunity with SOC's client to work onsite in Indian Head, MD.

Candidate must hold or be able to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered for this role.

Full-time on-site but requires being local to the MD/DC/VA area for occasional travel to a federal site in Indian Head, MD. Interaction and support from SOC personnel at the federal site and from SOC's Chantilly, VA, and Arlington, VA offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA.

• Primarily requires development of requirements and technical review of design packages as well as occasional design work
• Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as preventative maintenance status reports and long-term upgrade budgetary projections
• Complete facility design services and support review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes to help our client realize state‑of‑the‑art facilities through construction and commissioning
• Support modernizing facilities in compliance with local, state, and federal codes
• Collaborate/communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to, and external to the design team (e.g., engineering and manufacturing departments)

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• A minimum of 8 years experience required, 10+ years preferred
• Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software
• Experience with HVAC system design and system selection
• Experience with engineering MEP construction drawing sets
• Knowledge of mechanical compliance within an energetic manufacturing environment, including industrial systems with strict humidity and temperature requirements and explosion‑proof equipment
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret‑level security clearance; must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
