Company Profile
Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) develops, manufactures, and operates customized marine systems, shipboard equipment, subsea vehicles, and engineered solutions for commercial and U.S. military vessels.
Oceaneering Aerospace and Defense Technologies (AdTech) delivers solutions that enable humans to work safely and effectively in harsh environments - from underwater to the outer reaches of space. Our innovative solutions support the development and application of practical, cost‑effective systems that meet our customers' challenges - from routine to extreme. Our experience and expertise across multiple industries uniquely positions us as a leader in the government, space, and maritime services markets.
Our products and services meet the rigorous demands of the complex environments in which they operate, delivering results without compromising safety or reliability.
Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. We develop products and services for use throughout the lifecycle of an offshore oilfield, from drilling to decommissioning. We operate the world's premier fleet of work class ROVs. Additionally, we are a leader in offshore oilfield maintenance services, umbilicals, subsea hardware, and tooling. We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, entertainment, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.
PositionSummary
Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) performs a wide range of engineering services and products for unique marine systems for military and commercial customers. OTECH innovates wherever practical rather than inventing making it "faster to field" than others in its industry; the typical development/delivery cycle for complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical systems is often completed in 12-15 months. Technical capabilities span the entire engineering spectrum.
These skills have been demonstrated in successfully delivered systems, including Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs);
Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs); saturation diving systems; surface and sub-surface vehicle launch and recovery systems; advanced offshore cranes;
Manned submersibles and life support systems.
The Project Systems Engineer applies a working knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals for submersible systems, including HM&E (hull, mechanical, and electrical) and Software. This person will work with other OTECH personnel and provide input to engineering design, with a focus on system safety. The Project Systems Engineer will provide guidance to engineering design efforts, with a focus on System Safety. The interaction and input will proceed through the development of systems engineering documentation, including concepts of operations (CONOPS), requirements specifications, interface control documents and drawings, hazard analyses, reliability analyses, test plans and procedures.
In this role you will support continued safe operating analyses of various system configurations as they are developed to meet required capabilities. System Safety engineering is a unique discipline that encourages individuals to (1) analytically examine function, (2) acquire relevant data / information, and (3) justify conclusions to model cause and effect relationships of a complex system in various conditions. There are daily opportunities that promote specialty skill set development and collaboration across various engineering, test, certification, and end user groups.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge, methodologies and principles of safety engineering as defined in MIL-STD-882 to ensure design of systems, associated support equipment and facilities, networks and information systems meet applicable safety specifications and standards.
- Participate in development of system design, hardware, software, testing, and operating procedures to identify, track, and control or eliminate hazards.
- Contribute to development of RAM (reliability, availability and maintainability) design artifacts from a system safety perspective, including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) and Fault Tree Analyses (FTA).
- Own all system and software safety deliverables, ensuring their completeness, accuracy, and timely completion, including:
- System and Software Safety Plans
- System and Software Safety Analyses and Reports
- Hazard Tracking System (HTS)
