Site Civil Engineer-in-Training - Land Development

Base pay range: $70,000.00/yr – $75,000.00/yr

Duties, Responsibilities & Other
  • Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects.
  • Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations.
  • Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county‑level agencies).
  • Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with site development.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates.
Preferred
  • Previous internship or work experience in civil/site design or land development.
  • Familiarity with stormwater management and software such as Hydro

    CAD or Civil3D.
  • Exposure to local permitting agencies or review processes in Maryland or the Mid‑Atlantic region.
Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • General knowledge of design software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically.
Education and/or Work Experience Preferred

Previous internships or work experience in the engineering field.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to maintain required certifications.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
  • Pre‑employment drug screening and background check as conditions of employment.
