Job Description

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in consulting engineering and project management for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leads in developing technical proposals, take a proactive role in marketing and business development, and help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidisciplinary office.

This candidate will provide consulting services directly to clients.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for industrial, higher education, healthcare, federal government, and commercial projects.
• Manage and design multiple concurrent projects.
• Interpret technical drawings and lead design team efforts.
• Manage project team for budget and schedule control.
• Develop fee and qualification-based proposals.
• Conduct marketing and business development activities.

Qualifications

• 10 to 15 years of experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (required).
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical modeling software.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NESC, IESNA, IECC, and other electrical codes and standards.
• Strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Project Management experience and/or certifications.
• Ability to travel.

Compensation and Benefits

• Approximate base salary $120k-170k based on experience.
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
• Competitive end‑year discretionary bonus based on company, team, and personal performance.
• Hybrid work schedule (subject to change).
• 401(k) with maximum 5% contribution matching for 9% employee contribution.
