Position SummaryAs a Project Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer
4), you will be a vital member of the ADTECH engineering center of excellence. You will design and implement complex power and control systems for underwater robotic and electromechanical platforms, primarily for U.S. Navy and Department of Defense customers.
- Lead system or subsystem design, producing significant portions of electrical and control system designs, and supervise and mentor junior engineers.
- Translate high‑level requirements into complete designs, exercising technical judgment and creativity with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and participate in design reviews.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to solve problems and build functional systems.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers or technicians when required.
- Take ownership of results with considerable autonomy, knowing when to seek assistance.
- Continuously seek opportunities to expand your skills, expertise, and responsibilities.
- Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field with electrical concentration). Advanced degrees and significant experience may be considered.
- Minimum 7 years of practical technical experience in end‑to‑end electrical engineering—including concept, analysis, simulation, design, drafting, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of complex systems.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Department of Defense Security Clearance (active clearances preferred).
- U.S. citizenship.
- Experience integrating commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) equipment into interoperable systems.
- Proficient with current electrical components, wiring devices, and assembly practices.
- Experience with embedded microprocessor or SBC‑based control systems.
- Knowledge of data communication protocols (Ethernet, USB, RS‑232/422/485, SPI, I2C, CAN) in high‑noise environments.
- Design experience with DC power systems and power/energy estimation.
- Expertise in wiring, cable management, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
- Strong electrical drafting skills—schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, block diagrams.
- Proficiency with test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power analyzers, communication analyzers, hipot testers, spectrum analyzers, OTDR, optical meters).
- Advanced CAD, simulation, and analysis skills (Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, Solid Works Electrical, MathCAD, MATLAB).
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Marine industry experience (ROVs, AUVs, sonar, robotics).
- Knowledge of industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, IEC, ISO, NEMA, NEC, MIL).
- Hands‑on technician skills—assembly, wiring, soldering.
- Fiber‑optic and PCB design experience.
- Motor drives, robotics, and closed‑loop control expertise.
- Experience with low‑medium voltage power systems.
- Machine safety system knowledge.
- Programming or scripting experience.
- Willingness to travel up to two weeks at a time, possibly overseas or offshore.
This position is hybrid—remote with required commuting to a designated office. Work schedules will be determined by the hiring manager.
Pay, Benefits and Work ScheduleAnnualized pay: $115,000–$160,000. Full‑time benefits include Health and Wellness, Mental Health, Retirement Savings, Life and Disability, Paid Maternity and Parental Leave, Paid Time Off, Tuition Reimbursement, and an Employee Assistance Program.
