POSITION: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST INTERNSHIP SCHOOL YEARLOCATION:
Sites as assigned by Director of Student Services
Position Summary:
The School Psychologist Intern will be exposed to the day‑to‑day responsibilities of a school psychologist and will work closely with students and staff in multiple related capacities at assigned schools.
Reports to:
Supervisor of Student Services and assigned School Psychologists
- Must have completed practicum in schools.
- Must have completed majority of coursework.
- Must be enrolled in a 60-credit hour Master’s Program in School Psychology.
- Demonstrates success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.
- Participates as a member of the Student Services Team, Behavioral Threat Assessment Team, and the County Crisis Team.
- Provides individual and/or group counseling.
- Serves as a resource person for staff, students and families regarding psychological assessments, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), statistical reporting and interpretations, mental health disorders and childhood developmental disorders.
- Administers, scores and interprets various tests and rating scales.
- Provides direct intervention to students in crisis.
- Assists with the development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
- Assists with the development of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives according to the student’s present level of performance in the areas of social, emotional, behavioral, and executive functioning.
- Attends IEP meetings.
- Develops and assists with interventions for both regular and special education students.
- Participates in PBIS meetings.
- Participates in weekly face‑to‑face supervision meetings.
Other duties:
Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Physical demands:
Position requires significant periods of standing and walking, and is performed in a typical school environment.
Unusual demands:
May be subject to flexible hours and may require the use of CPI physical restraint.
Terms of employment: 10‑month position, paid full‑time internship (1200 hours) $25,000.00. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.

Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with feedback from immediate site‑based supervisors and university requirements.

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
