GSL Education is working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Brentwood
that has a dedicated SEN provision on site. The school is seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support a child with autism within this specialist provision.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a structured, well-supported environment where inclusion is at the heart of the school’s ethos.
About the RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide focused support to a pupil with autism within the school’s SEN provision. You will play an important role in helping the child access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing setting.
Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and other support staff, you will help implement personalised strategies and contribute to a consistent and supportive learning experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesProviding support for a child with autism within the SEN provision
Supporting learning through structured and adapted activities
Promoting communication, social development, and emotional regulation
Encouraging independence and positive behaviour
Assisting with transitions and daily routines
Implementing strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP and support plans
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to progress reviews
The Ideal CandidateExperience supporting children with autism and/or SEN
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with pupils
Confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
Passionate about inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
